ABBA: The Official Photo Book
ABBA THE OFFICIAL PHOTO BOOK is the first authorised and official photo book about one of the greatest pop groups of the 20th century, covering their entire career. The group has sold almost 400 million records, in some markets topping The Beatles. The book has the full co-operation of Bjorn, Benny, Frida and Agnetha, who have contributed a foreword and personal commentary on the pictures. This extraordinary book contains more than 600 images, more than 100 of which have never previously been published. See images from the pre-ABBA years, the formation of the band, ABBA's incredible rise to success with their break-through at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton and the rocket ride to global super-stardom that followed. Private photographs are included as well as unpublished pictures by famous press photographers, alternative shots from album cover shoots and behind-the-scenes pictures from the major tours.
Abba: The Book
In April 1974, ABBA stormed to victory in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo", resplendent in their shiny satin costumes and silver platform boots. More than 25 years and 350 million record sales later, ABBA's popularity remains undiminished.
ABBA The Scrapbook
Between "Waterloo" and their break-up, ABBA became the second biggest selling pop band of all time. When Polygram released the greatest hits collection ABBA Gold in 1992, it helped to kickstart a huge ABBA revival: the album has sold more than 15 million copies to date. ABBA songs played a key role in hit movies such as Muriel's Wedding and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Mamma Mia, a musical written around 27 ABBA songs, opened in London in April 1999 and is slated to kick off its Broadway run in November 2001.
ABBA: The Book is the definitive history of the group, fully illustrated throughout with hundreds of glorious photographs, many of which are from ABBA's private archive and previously unpublished. Drawing on exclusive interviews with the band and their manager and mentor, Stig Anderson, Jean-Marie Potiez relates in detail the incredible story of ABBA's glittering career.
Over thirty years since their triumphant victory at the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Waterloo' in 1974, ABBA's unfailing popularity remains. From dancefloor classics like 'Dancing Queen' and 'Mamma Mia' to ballads like 'The Winner Takes It All' ABBA's musical legacy endures and their songs have been covered or sampled by many artists from U2 to Madonna.
Fully illustrated throughout with unique photographs and rare memorabilia, ABBA The Scrapbook gives a complete history of one of the best-loved pop groups of all time: including their early days in Sweden; the relationships within the band; the excitement of Eurovision victory; the outrageous 1970s fashion and style of ABBA; ABBA The Movie; the eventual break-up of the group; and the legacy of ABBA including the hugely successful Mamma Mia! stage musical and the forthcoming film.
This visual biography charts the amazing story of how ABBA conquered the world!
