Through random experimentation I determined that the BST-37 Sony Ericsson Standard Battery ceases to hold charge after being submerged in lake water. The replacement battery available through Amazon appears identical to my original cellphone battery and has allowed me to use my phone at distances greater than 3 feet from an electrical outlet. (It also cost me a third of what the cellphone store was asking.)

I was hoping that this battery would hold charge close to the OEM battery, but it does not last anywhere close. My regular usage allows me to recharge the battery of a two-year old phone about once a week (I turn it off at night and do not use it that much).
