Bijelo dugme Pesme Tekstovi
Bijelo Dugme (trans. White Button) was a former Yugoslav rock band, based in Sarajevo. Bijelo Dugme is widely considered to have been the most popular band ever to exist in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and one of the most important acts of the Yugoslav rock scene.
The B92 Top 100 Yugoslav songs list fetaures three songs by Bijelo Dugme: "Sve ce to, mila moja, prekriti ruzmarin, snjegovi i sas" (polled No. 14), "Lose vino" (polled No. 32) and "Ako mozes zaboravi (polled No. 51). In 2011, the song "Meni se ne spava" ("I Don't Feel like Sleeping") was voted, by the listeners of Radio 202, one of 60 greatest songs released by PGP-RTB/PGP-RTS during the sixty years of the label's existence.
Pljuni i zapjevaj moja Jugoslavijo by Bijelo Dugme
Bijelo Dugme (White Button) was landmark rock band in former Yugoslavia. The music is original blend of classic 70es rock (electric guitar and organ) with balkan folk. They did it long before world music became popular.
You will find that some of the songs were rewriten by Bregovic later and used in many of his soundtracks and later albums. These songs are not here, but some examples: Djurdjevdan became Ederlezi, Hajdemo u planine became TV screen (arisona dream soundtrack), etc. If you are a music freak, you would want to hear the original versions, which were local hits, of his later world hits.
It was as Bregovic was practising for his global career with same songs in micro world of Yugoslavia. Pity that those songs didn't make it to this compilation.
Croatia Records has copyright for his early work and they did republish most of their albums on CDs few years back, including this compilation.
