The aquarium has 5.7 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of marine and freshwater habitats from across the world. L'Oceanografic is an oceanarium situated in the east of the city of Valencia, Spain, where different marine habitats are represented. It was designed by the architect Felix Candela and the structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lazaro. It is integrated inside the cultural complex known as the Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciencies (City of Arts and Sciences). It was opened on 14 February 2003.

The S.E.A Aquarium used to be the world's largest aquarium, now overtaken by Chime-Long Ocean Kingdom in Hengqin, China. It contains a total of 45,000,000 litres (9,900,000 imp gal; 12,000,000 US gal) of water for more than 100,000 marine animals of over 800 species. The aquarium comprises 10 zones with 49 habitats. The centerpiece of the Aquarium is the Open Ocean tank with more than 18,000,000 l (4,000,000 imp gal; 4,800,000 US gal) and 50,000 animals.

Zhuhai Chime-Long Ocean Kingdom is a theme park situated in Hengqin, Zhuhai, People's Republic of China. It is designed by PGAV Destinations. The park broke ground on 28 November 2010 and soft-opened on 28 January 2014. The first phase of the park costs RMB 10 billion to build. It is part of the Chime-Long International Ocean Resort. The resort aims to become the "Orlando of China". Finally grand opened in 29 March 2014.
