Easter in Budapest
In the Christian calendar Easter (Husvet in Hungarian) celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and marks the end of lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts forty days. In Hungary Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are public holidays.
Easter in Buda Castle is all about traditions, art, culture and gastronomy. Activities include folk crafts, Easter egg painting, a petting zoo for the kids, live folk music and dance performances.

Hungarian Macaron Day
The annual Macaron Day in Budapest is inspired by the Jour du Macaron held on the same day in Paris and the Macaron Day in New York City. It's dedicated to the famous French macaron, a round crunchy pastry sandwiched together with a soft creamy center. Macarons come in a variety of colors and flavors.
On March 20th, during the Hungarian Macaron Day, visitors will have a chance to taste, smell and even learn how to bake macarons. The program includes a Macaron Fare, a Macaron Competition, programs for kids and lots of delicious pastries.
Cherry Blossom Festival in Budapest
Celebrate the cherry blossom season in Budapest. In 2015, the annual Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival at the Füvészkert Botanical Gardens is held on the weekends of Apr 11-12 and Apr 18-19. Guest of honor and patron of the Sakura Festival is the Japanese Ambassador. Visitors can spend a weekend celebrating traditional Japanese art and culture, including origami and calligraphy exhibitions. Authentic Japanese tea will be served and there will be plenty of kids programs to keep the little ones entertained.

Fuveszkert is the oldest botanical garden in Hungary. Eotvos Lorand University's Faculty of Medicine established the garden in 1771. Its location was changed several times since the 18th century and the present site was purchased in 1847.
Budapest Dance Festival
The National Dance Theater's Budapest Dance Festival, held annualy on and around April 29th, the International Dance Day, features a whole array of dance styles from ballet and contemporary to folk dance. A multitude of venues throughout the city welcome both, Hungarian and international dance companies. It all goes on for ten days with performers like the Kylian Production, Doug Varone and Dancers, and the Yvette Bozsik Company on the program.

Budapest Palinka Festival
The festival will exhibit more then fourhundred different types of palinka distillates, while visitors may enjoy sampling handcrafted sausages, cheeses and other meat based delicacies at the 8th Palinka and Sausage Festival of the Buda Castle. The festival’s guest distillate this autumn will be the golden whisky.
Palinka is not for the faint hearted and is best accompanied by some Hungarian delicacies. If you have too much to drink, head on over to one of the food stalls offering sausages, cheese and chocolate. There will be plenty of live music to set the mood and make this event even more enjoyable.
